The Old Girl redux

Fancy mice are also fragile mice.

Belle has developed what appears to be a tumor between the left side of her jawbone and her left shoulder. It became noticeable around May 19 and it has grown some since then. Treatment for this tumor is possible. But, treatment may not be practical.

Belle is now a little over a year old and has always been a bit on the fragile side. But, Belle has also always been frisky and playful. A while back we suspected she may have had a stoke.

I am in the exact same situation as you.
I have a little white mouse named Fray and she is a little over a year old.
today i found a tumor under her left arm? paw?
i agree it's so hard to know what would actually be practical given the risks and costs of having the "lump" removed.
i wish you the best, it's just a hard situation.

I noticed that on mine just a few day's ago. I've grown really attached to him and its sad to realize its time to let him go. :(

I have the same problem. Today, I was cleaning my mices' cage, and the fatter of my two mice, Chocolate, had a really big lump on her left shoulder. My parents think it's a tumor. I'm not really sure what to do. I'm trying to research, and all the pictures I see look pretty gruesome. I'm scared that my mouse might turn out like that too. Can you please tell me what happened to your mouse' bulge?

Tamlyn, it's almost 5 years ago since Belle's problem. It's a bit hard for me to remember how long she had, but I do remember generally that she lived for many more weeks and had a good quality of life. The tumor go much larger, but she managed to get aroud and seemed to enjoy life. Treating the tumors means surgery which itself is stressful to mice, plus they always grow back. My opinion is, let nature takes its course, love them, and treasure each day you have left with them...good advice for anyone we love really...

Thank you. I just didn't want to see my mouse in pain. As long as she manages to get around and be happy, I guess everything will turn out for the best. :)
